Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers was killed in action and the fine folks at the Westboro Baptist Church threatened to protest his funeral. Mysteriously, they were nowhere to be found. Or were they?
via BLACKFIVE - [The WBC] did show up, a few showed up a couple of days early.
A couple of days before, one of them ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his ass waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.
Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county. Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over.
Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out. A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.
We have a bill of rights that protects our freedom of speech, among many other things. Unfortunately, the dipshits at the Westboro Baptist Church are protected by the same bill of rights. Arguments about freedom of speech drive me crazy sometimes. I’m totally baffled by people who believe that we have a Constitutional right to say whatever the hell we want without consequence. It’s true, it’s legal for us to say most anything. But just because it’s legal, doesn’t mean there aren’t consequences. It just means it’s not against the law. If you go up to some dude in a bar and call him a fat fuck, you probably won’t be arrested. But he sure as shit is going to pop you in your grill. Action. Consequence. So what do you do when a fanatical religious group wants to spread the word of god by dancing all over your recently deceased family members grave? Exactly what the good ol’ boys in Brandon, Mississippi did. Now, I’m one of the few people out there who wishes the North lost the Civil War so we didn’t have to share a flag with the South, so I have to admit I did not see this kind of genius coming out of Mississippi (yes, I just sang the song in my head to type that out). But I’ve seen My Cousin Vinny, so I know how the justice system works down there. And if there was ever a time to maybe bend the rules a bit, it’s to fuck with the WBC. So here’s to you, my hillbilly friends. You may not have mastered things like personal hygiene or the English language, but you sure do know how to troll the WBC. That makes you ok in my book.
RIP Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers
